About Northport Elementary

Serving nearly 600 students in pre-kindergarten through second grade

Northport Elementary is located in rural Tuscaloosa County, approximately seven miles north of downtown Northport, Alabama. Our school was built in 2008 to relieve overcrowding at Huntington Place Elementary. NES serves students in K-2 as well as two special education Pre-K classes. The school’s population has grown each year and it currently enrolls almost 600 students, 48 certified faculty and 18 support staff. In 2011, we were awarded our first state accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools on Accreditation and School Improvement.

As part of the Tuscaloosa County School System, our mission is to educate and empower all students to be college and career ready graduates who are prepared to make a positive contribution to our global society. At NES, we see the potential in every child that walks through our doors!

School Partners

Northport Elementary is proud to be a part of the Adopt-a-School program. The Adopt-A-School is a joint partnership between the West Alabama Chamber of Commerce and the Tuscaloosa City and Tuscaloosa County School Systems. Adopt-A-School is the commitment of time, energy, and expertise of a business to an individual school. The partners set realistic goals that are agreeable to all involved. The overall objectives of the partnership are flexible in order to utilize the resources of the adopter to meet the needs of the school, and each partnership is uniquely designed to bring about positive outcomes for all those involved.

Our Adopt-A-School Partner are is Alabama One Credit Union and Tiger Rock Martial Arts - Northport. We are very thankful for all our Adopters do for our school, students, and staff!

Alabama One Credit Union

Alabama One Credit Union was chartered in 1951 as the TRW Federal Credit Union. There were seven Charter Members and $35 in total assets. The Charter Members were:

The name was changed to BF Goodrich Employees Federal Credit Union on July 18, 1973, and remained that through many years of growth and prosperity. In early 2001, BF Goodrich Employees Federal Credit Union was granted the status of a Community Credit Union. Membership was subsequently opened to all who live, work, worship or are educated in Tuscaloosa and Pickens Counties. In early 2009, the Credit Union was renamed Alabama One Credit Union.

Today, Alabama One Credit Union is a multi-million dollar full-service financial institution, serving all the residents of Tuscaloosa, Pickens, Mobile, Jefferson, and 18 other counties, including Fayette, Walker, Bibb, Hale, Greene, Lamar, Washington, Baldwin, Monroe, Escambia, Choctaw, Clarke, Wilcox, Marengo, Sumter, Morgan, Montgomery, and Shelby. It is still a member-owned organization with each member sharing equally in that ownership.

Annual membership meetings are held to give progress reports, elect a board of directors, a supervisory committee and conduct Credit Union business. The Board of Directors appoints committees to oversee the Credit Union. All board members and committee members are volunteers and receive no compensation for their service.

Our Instructors

You can be assured that participants will receive the highest quality of instruction. Tiger-Rock Martial Art Instructors are required to be certified and earn continuing education credits to keep up-to-date with the latest policies and teaching methods, ensuring safety and enhanced learning. Tiger-Rock Martial Arts International recommends that all Instructors in the academy maintain a current CPR and First Aid certification. Tiger-Rock Martial Arts also recommends academy owners conduct background checks on all annually-qualified Instructors and academy workers 18 years old or older. Academies place a high priority on protecting the safety of members.
